Meeting with the Alderman of the 28th ward

Today I am meeting with an alderman, Ed Smith of the 28th ward, although it is not my first such meeting with a city official, I am nonetheless flustered as to the prospect of being brushed off. Being a small business owner in the city of Chicago, it is imperative to have a good relationship with your alderman. Especially since we are a union shop looking for union jobs with a VERY pro union president from Chicago. I am going to stress that we are a good part of the community that provides jobs to those with little education but a strong work ethic. I want to address the gang graffitti issues, parking issues, pothole issues and taxing by the city at a later meeting, this one is just to initiate contact and let him know we exist and are in his neighborhood.

Breaking Bad - Best show on TV right now

Breaking Bad - If you haven' t seen this show, start watching now, because everybody will be talking about it soon. It takes a very important theme of money problems due to healthcare costs and couples that with the easy money of making illegal highly addictive drugs. The way the drugs reach their targets, through Nazi's, rave chicks, young kids, is eerily similar to how most things catch on with universal appeal. Drugs are something that we cannot control, although we would like to think we can. As long as people have the desire to do something, whatever it is, there will be those who will facilitate that need for them. I can only offer the solution that the government supplies all drugs at a fixed cost and tax them. Otherwise you will have ordinary people and those who are superbly shady reaping all the profits. If you want to cripple the criminal empire, eliminate illegal drugs by making them legal.
